In 1746, New Bern was originally put on the map as North Carolina’s first capital. Home to Tryon Palace and the birthplace of Pepsi, New Bern has a long-standing history of providing tourists with a variety of activities. Local tourism leaders wanted to attract more visitors and increase the occupancy rate within hotels, bed & breakfasts, and short-term vacation rentals.
In 2020, BluePrint was named the Craven County Tourism Development Authority’s Agency of Record. Since that time, the duo have won six North Carolina Travel Industry Association Tourism Achievement Awards.
New Bern had local prominence and was known for its historic draw, but it still remained a hidden gem to many. The modern nightlife, culinary scene, and outdoor activities were still widely unknown, creating a gap in attracting a broad range of visitors and maximizing New Bern’s tourism potential.
To address this challenge, our firm proposed a pivot towards digital advertising while still keeping one hand on the pulse of traditional print media. The idea was to refresh the existing strategy and build awareness around New Bern as a well-rounded destination by creating digital campaigns that would drive tourism.
